ASPECTS OF THE MARINE SPATIAL PLANNING PROCESS

USE OF BEST AVAILABLE DATA

To support MSP processes in Türkiye and ensure the use of the best available data, various systems and projects are utilized to monitor and compile a data inventory for all coastal and maritime areas, covering morphological, oceanographic, seismic, and pollution data. These include the Assessment and Control of Marine Pollution Program in the Mediterranean, Black Sea Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Program (BSIMAP), Integrated Marine Pollution Monitoring Program (DEN-İZ), Establishment of Specific Water Quality Ecological Assessment System Project, Development of Specific Hydrological, Water Quality and Ecological Modeling Tool for Sustainable Management of Water Resources Project, the Automatic Meteorological Observation Station (D-OMGİ), and AIS. These initiatives enable public institutions and organizations to systematically collect and manage best available data.
