ASPECTS OF THE MARINE SPATIAL PLANNING PROCESS

TRANS-BOUNDARY COOPERATION

Türkiye actively engages in transboundary cooperation on MSP and marine environmental protection through various regional and international frameworks. As a member of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Türkiye collaborates on marine sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and pollution control in the Mediterranean. It is also a signatory to the Barcelona Convention, ensuring alignment with regional efforts to reduce marine pollution and protect coastal ecosystems. In the Black Sea, Türkiye cooperates under the Bucharest Convention, working with neighboring countries to address pollution, biodiversity loss, and sustainable resource management. Additionally, Türkiye participates in the European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and Water-column Observatory (EMSO), contributing to transboundary scientific research, data sharing, and marine environmental monitoring.
